    Reporting to the Superintendent – Processing, this position is vacant within the Processing Department and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment in the Process Plant. Ensures all environment and safety standards and policies are being met and carried out in accordance with Barrick policies.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed
  • Ensure effective communication within and between all areas of process operation and those supporting the process
  • Responsible to oversee Permit to Work systems for effective application of Isolations, JHAs, Permit to Work and resources.
  • Ensure, compliance checks & audits are carried out as per approved schedule at all times.
  • Co-ordinate equipment isolation, JHAs and permit issuing for plant shutdowns
  • Assist the Processing Superintendent with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects
  • Liaise with maintenance to ensure all downtimes are minimized
  • Responsible for effective utilisation of Operational resources and systems to effectively assist planned Maintenance / shutdown works.
  • Liaise with metallurgists on the day to day running of the plant to optimize recovery
  • Uphold Barrick's gold Security Standard policies
  • Additional responsibilities will be given where applicable by Superintendent – Processing
  • Uphold a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness, adhering to the PJV Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Policy, and following all related rules and procedures.
  • The ideal candidate must have:

  • Grade 12 or above educational qualifications with Significant minerals processing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in leadership roles overseeing multiple areas of a large gold treatment plant
  • Experience in shutdowns preferably Mill relines, Autoclaves or Oxygen plant shutdowns.
  • Experience in developing and implementing operating procedures and monitoring and improving processing systems
  • Demonstrated success as an effective leader
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
  • High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in PNG.
  • Mobilization Requirement

  • This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
  • Rotation is FIFO, 28 days on and 14 days off
  • Adhere to Covid19 Protocols
  • Must Have an up to date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months
