The client is looking for a skilled SECURITY ENGINEER

A seasoned security professional is needed to monitor, analyze, and address security events and incidents, develop security solutions that enhance Information Security capabilities and products, and uphold existing security controls.

You'll be responsible for independently evaluating common and uncommon security events from various sources, such as commercial security event and incident monitoring technology. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining and administering Information Security tool suite, which includes firewall rules, phishing controls, and other standard security tools, aligning with best practices, industry standards, and compliant implementations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor, analyze, and respond to security events and incidents.
Proficiency with CriticalStart MDR (Managed Detection and Response), Splunk, Azure Sentinel, or similar SIEM tools and MDR services is acceptable.
Assess logs and security reports from diverse systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft security reports and Tenable.IO system for general vulnerability management is advantageous.
Address user tickets related to security systems issues or modification requests for security capabilities (e.g., firewall rules, anti-malware exceptions, system password creation/reset, email/phishing rules and overrides). Translate complex user requests into written requirements, collaborating with colleagues to implement them effectively.
Conduct troubleshooting on existing security controls and networking using tools like Wireshark, Task Manager, DNS utilities, and other cloud or OS-specific utilities.
Implement additional security controls using existing security tools and uphold current security controls.
Support security audits, conduct vulnerability assessments, and facilitate remediation with other teams.
Create and update security documentation.

Requirements:

Experience or formal education in any combination of the following SecOps disciplines: networking, firewalls, phishing/malware tools, application administration, scripting, security analysis, threat detection, threat intelligence, and incident response.
Competence in application troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows desktop, Windows Server, Linux, and at least one cloud service like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Office 365, etc.
Minimum of 2 years of IT experience (with security focus).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with end users and technical peers through internal messaging, email, and phone or video communications.

Preferred Experience:

Preferably a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work background.
Over 3 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting cybersecurity systems.
Security certifications are advantageous: CEH, Security+, CISSP, CISM, etc.
