POSITION DETAILS


The Accounting Senior Associate will oversee expense management, tracking, and reporting, as well as Accounts Payable and Receivable and general expense policies and protocols.

This newly-created role will join our growing Argentina team and require a high degree of entrepreneurialism, a strong can-do mentality, a highly proactive, hands-on approach, and excellent financial and operational skills.

Specific responsibilities for the Accounting Associate are outlined below:

Accounting and Expense Oversight

  • Recommend and improve companywide utilization of accounting system to enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting
  • Maintain the coding and dimensions of accounting system, including updating and requesting new codes for departments, funders, and entities
  • Oversee and ensure all entries into intacct system are correct and complete on a consistent basis
  • Identify, monitor, and allocate automatic deductions, such as rechargeable and debit card expenses and payroll
  • Review the GL on a consistent, recurring basis to ensure proper and coding, and appropriateness, of expenses
  • Coordinate with the global Operations team and global accounting firm to ensure correct and time monthend close

Reporting, Controls, and Compliance

  • Implement financial record keeping best practices, using the organizational software, Intacct
  • Work with global and country operations teams to discern and implement new processes, procedures or tools that would improve the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting systems
  • Ensure accountability compliance and reporting, oversee budget reviews and reports, manage offices payments, transactions. Conduct conversations with local external accountant. Support accountability reports for on the ground projects and secure expense report validation.
  • Drive reporting processes in partnership with global and country operations teams (e.g., monthly expense reconciliation, inventory management and tracking)
  • Review expenses assigned to funders against agreed upon budgets; finalize and consolidate on quarterly and annual basis to discuss with budget owners
  • Calculate quarterly allocations of indirect costs across organizational business units

Procurement

  • Draft Request for Proposals (RFPs) for largeitem expenditures
  • Run the proposal review and selection process, coordinating stakeholders' priorities in evaluating winning bids
  • Manage the Vendor relationship, from selection to entering into the system to processing prompt payment according to scope of work and deliverables
  • Maintain a centralized list of potential vendor options for reference by programmatic teams as needed

Day-to-Day Accounting processes support

  • Oversee businessasusual internal accounting operations including data entry, cash flow management, and expense tracking
  • Create relevant and timely finance dashboards to create transparency and drive strategic decisions across team
  • Perform quarterly financial statement analysis to measure financial health of the program

Audit and tax support

  • Ensure Argentina team's accounting system and records meet audit and tax requirements for Argentina and for the global NGO
  • Prepare necessary documents and records required for yearly audit and yearly tax report
  • Respond to audit requests from both Argentina and global auditors


This full-time role will be based in our office in Buenos Aires and will report directly to the Operations Lead.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 4+ years of work experience in accounting
  • Minimum Bachelors of Education in Accounting, Finance, and/or relevant field
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and English (both written and oral)
  • Strong Excel analytics skills and experience building financial statements for nonprofit organizations (e.g., budget forecasting, finance operations, reporting)
  • Multidisciplinary problemsolving skills including demonstrated conceptual and analytical problemsolving skills (e.g., distilling insights from research and discussions)
  • Customerorientation with experience supporting teams with complex implementation projects with various stakeholders preferred
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
