Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)


Main purpose of job:


In 2023, the Embassy's Communications Team will mainly focus its public diplomacy activities on strengthening the Argentina-UK relationship, including protecting and promoting UK's prosperity, security and people-to-people links and looking to develop business opportunities.


Roles and responsibilities:


Public Diplomacy Campaigns:

  • Design and produce promotional material for circulation at activities and events. These would include the design and production of invitations, flyers, banners, videos, etc.
  • Contribute with ideas and assist in planning events to deliver Embassy objectives.
  • Assist communications officer in contacting and inviting media for Embassy activities.

Marketing & Communications:

  • Support the communications officer in further developing the Embassy's website and social media platforms.
  • Support communications officer in producing promotional material for journalists and guests, doing research and drafts.
  • Assist in managing media for Embassy's projects and activities.
  • Monitoring media for specific news and references.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Be currently enrolled in university undertaking a communications/journalism/public relations or relevant degree.
  • Basic graphic design skills.
  • Good photo and video editing skills.
  • Working knowledge of social networks.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong writing/drafting skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Research experience (sources, internet searches).
  • Ability to work well with others and in a team.
  • Have a flexible, proactive, and adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn.
  • Attentiontodetail.
  • Adept organisational/planning skills and knowledge of how to manage one's time and workload and problemsolve.
  • Ability to speak English at an advanced or higher level (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent).

  • Campaigns/communications experience.

Learning and development opportunities:


The Comms intern will be able to participate in any training delivered in-house and will have the opportunity to complete any e-learning or Diplomatic Academy chapter they find relevant to their position.

Must have the legal status to live and work in Argentina.


Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Additional information


Working patterns:
This internship is 20 hours a week.
Ideally Monday-Friday 9:00 to 13:00,
but flexible hours can be worked out with the line manager.
  • Please note that while the role is hybrid, it still requires regular weekly in-person attendance at the Embassy.
