Sr Software Engineer to join our team You would work within the within the
Financial Services industry and in a project based in
Chicago, IL.

About the role

As a Sr Software Engineer you will be working on creating the most cutting edge trading and clearing system to power the next generation digital asset exchange.

In this role you will work closely and lead with other technologists and financial experts to design, develop, and improve on our critical trading and clearing systems.

You will contribute to the team by helping define engineering best practices, architectural patterns, and standards.

Collaboration with other team members to solve complex problems that meet the demands of the financial technology space will be part of your day to day responsibilities.

The systems you will work on will facilitate onboarding automation, account management, movement of funds for both crypto and fiat, blockchain interactions and trading of spot and futures derivatives.

Given the critical nature of these systems, they must be designed with high availability and high performance as a key requirement through the use of microservices, reliable message queues, and database clusters.

Basic Qualifications

Intermediate/Advanced English skills.

Role Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field.
Experience building distributed systems(e.g. microservices) that communicate over reliable message queues.
Experience with clientside software development.
Experience writing server side software.
Experience with Docker.
Experience solving complicated, open ended problems.
Experience designing algorithms and data structures.
Experience with distributed systems.
Unit Testing Experience.
Git experience.
Agile methodologies.
Experience with message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, SQS,).
Strong Back end programming skills (Languages used
:Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Python).
Experience with message queues and nonrelational databases (e.g. RabbitMQ,
MongoDB).
Experience with SQL.
Familiarity with CSS, HTML and
Interest in React or other frontend frameworks.
Interest and ability to learn new programming languages as needed.
Knowledge of testdriven development.
Linux.
Source control management.
Interest in trading and finance.

Qualifications for the role:

Bachelor's degree in User Experience, Graphic Design, or related technical field or equivalent amount of professional experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design and user experience. More experience desired.
Portfolio showcasing relevant work.
Well versed in the design and use of user stories, customer journey maps, and personas.
Experience designing and leading usability testing sessions with different users.
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Balsamiq, InVision, Sketch, Figma and other graphic design software.
Strong typography, layout, and visual design skills.
Strong knowledge of mobile first and responsive design practices.
Knowledge on UI deliverables: User flows, wireframes, lofi and hifi layouts, and prototypes.
Knowledge on accessibility standards and implementation.
Ability to prepare and present design concepts effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Efficient time management and task prioritization skills.
Desire to learn about farming and be customer focused.
8bit images or pixel art related experience.
Experience in web and mobile app design.
Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
Experience working within an agile workspace.
Proficiency with collaborative tools like Jira or confluence.
