The Legal Operations Onboarding position is within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) on the Legal Solutions team.

The OGC group strives to assist attorneys and staff make the best use of their time by providing centralized services to:

- develop professional skills
- centrally manage projects and achieve business objectives
- optimize processes and technology
- engage, advise, and connect employees

Further, the OGC assists the Legal Management Team to establish and execute the department's objectives by driving and supporting initiatives to:

  • implement firmwide standards and governance
- provide financial discipline
- guide the people agenda
- drive best practices

This role is a key member of the Operations team that supports the Legal department's onboarding program.


As an Onboarding specialist for the Legal department at JPMorgan Chase, you will deliver a superior new hire experience by providing exceptional service while maintaining quality throughout the pre-employment onboarding process, technology setup and subsequent review meetings for both internal and external hires.

The role requires time management skills and the ability to be productive in a high hiring volume environment.

At times our specialists may manage more than 25+ hires at any given time and must be able to toggle between multiple systems effectively.


And these are some of the activities you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitate onboarding of new hires and transfers and continue to monitor onboarding status
  • Coordinate onboarding communications with hiring manager and new hires/transfers
  • Partner with Background Investigation Coordinator to ensure all required background checks are completed
  • Validating new hires employment status and are provisioned with proper workstation per department guidelines
  • Fielding general questions from both hiring manager and new hire/transfer
  • Performing license validations for impending attorney hires
  • Conducting conflict checks, where required, for impending hires
  • Contribute to the maintenance of reports, including the pipeline
  • Gather underlying process metrics to measure and track progress and provide monthly
  • Other duties as assigned by direct manager

What do we ask for this position?

  • 2+ years of experience in legal, financial or administrative operations
  • Knowledge of JPMC Intranet, Ariba, Request Center, IBID and RSAM highly desired
  • Ability to assist with technology questions/issues, troubleshoot effectively and assist in training when needed
  • Exceptional project management skills with meticulous attention to detail, timing, deadlines and organization
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to be proactive, including escalating issues, proposing solutions and when needed, work closely with the technical teams for resolution
  • Superior interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills, has the ability to work independently and a willingness to seamlessly backup team members on the fly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/responsibilities and can manage stressful situations
  • Driven, enthusiastic and positive "cando" attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and is comfortable interacting with varying levels of management
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to improve the overall customer experience by representing their voice, providing product feedback and recommendations
  • High degree of flexibility and can quickly adapt to change
